China’s WeRide launches autonomous vehicles in Switzerland

WeRide, a self-driving technology company from China, has launched a pilot program to test autonomous vehicles in Switzerland.

In partnership with Schweizerische Bundesbahnen (SBB), two autonomous cars operating in the Furttal region, with plans to expand to a total of eight vehicles, including minibuses, by 2026.

The vehicles are equipped with Level 4 autonomous driving technology, which allows them to operate without human intervention in most circumstances.

Swiss Transit Lab is managing the operations of the driverless cars, while SBB provides financial support for the project.

This initiative represents WeRide’s third project in Europe within the last eight months.
