China’s Unitree unveils lifelike robot with human face

Unitree Robotics has launched its latest bionic humanoid robot, the Unitree H2, in China.

The H2 stands 180 cm tall, weighs 70 kg, and features a human-like face.

Demonstration videos show the robot performing dance and martial arts moves with fluid motion and smooth joint articulation.

Unitree has not disclosed full technical details for the H2.

The H2 marks a step forward in Unitree’s efforts to develop more lifelike humanoid robots.

The company’s previous model, the H1, appeared at China’s 2024 Spring Festival Gala and could run at speeds up to 3.3 meters per second, with a potential top speed exceeding 5 meters per second.

The H1 is equipped with 3D LiDAR and depth cameras for high-precision spatial awareness.

  • Motion capture studios and animators can validate moves on H2. It stands 180 cm and weighs 70 kg, near human size. R1 is smaller at 121 cm and about 25 kg 4, while H1 is lighter at about 47 kg 1.
  • Independent developers and robotics startups building telepresence or human-robot interaction should watch for an official SDK and ROS2 support. Unitree offers ROS2 tools for Go2 and H1 3. That could set up similar support for H2.
