China’s Unitree launches robot dog training course for students

Unitree Robotics has launched an education platform to teach students how to train and operate its Go2 robot dog.

The Hangzhou-based robotics startup is offering in-person courses that cover the operation, maintenance, and applications of its Go2 quadruped robot.

The curriculum uses hands-on training kits and debugging stations, allowing students to work with the Go2’s hardware and software, including its 4D lidar and ISS2.0 navigation system.

Students will learn about motion control, autonomous navigation, and basic upkeep, as well as simulate and test real-world scenarios.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

Unitree’s education push lacks proof of scale beyond marketing buzz

  • Unitree’s training platform touts “graded courses” and “competition pathways” but lists no university partners, enrollment figures, or accredited status 1. No MOUs with vocational schools or city funding appear, so this reads like a product debut.
  • Past deals look small. Shanghai University bought 4 Go2 units for 382,000 yuan and 25 G1 EDU units for 925,000 yuan 2. Cities are building robotics training bases 3, yet Unitree has not said if its lessons feed those programs.
  • IPO timing invites scrutiny. Unitree plans to file between October and December 2025, and this launch may frame the firm as a platform to seek a richer valuation, a move seen before listings.

Robotics curriculum vendors can capture procurement budgets at vocational schools

  • China’s robotics training bases create demand for standardized teaching kits, ROS 2 simulators, and safety systems. Guangdong Polytechnic tendered 30 embodied intelligent robots with an 855,600 yuan line item in a 1.41 million yuan project 3. Anhui Jinzhai Technician Institute sought robot training gear with a 1.96 million yuan budget 4.
  • Vendors with ready curriculum managers, remote debugging, and algorithm case libraries can meet tight schedules. Guangdong required 30 days while Anhui required 45 days 34.
  • A 61.46% SME share in the Guangdong tender opens doors for smaller outfits 3. Package ROS 2 modules with compliance files aligned to vocational standards.
