China’s Pony AI raises fleet goal after revenue jump
Pony AI raised its 2026 robotaxi fleet target by 500 vehicles to 3,500 after reporting stronger-than-expected first-quarter results.
The Guangzhou-based self-driving company said revenue jumped 145% year on year to US$34.3 million, exceeding Bloomberg’s analyst estimate of US$21.7 million.
Operating loss widened 4% to US$58.3 million. The company now expects full-year robotaxi revenue to reach 3.5x its 2025 level of US$16.6 million, up from an earlier forecast of 3x.
Pony AI said its partnership with Toyota secured 1,000 Gen-7 robotaxis and that 1,446 robotaxi vehicles had been produced as of March 25, supporting the larger rollout.
The upgrade comes as China has paused new permits for high-level autonomous-driving vehicles after a Baidu robotaxi outage in Wuhan.
Pony AI said its China operations were unaffected. It has also started offering robotaxi services in Zagreb, Croatia, with Verne and Uber, and is running trials in the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, and South Korea.
