China’s Liandong buys chip tester Northstar for $10m
Liandong Technology, a Shenzhen-listed Chinese semiconductor test equipment maker, said on July 3 that its wholly owned subsidiary, Hong Kong Liandong Technology Industrial Limited, agreed to acquire 100% of chip testing company Northstar Technologies Limited for US$10 million in cash.
Liandong’s third board approved the transaction at its eighth meeting the same day.
The company said the deal still requires domestic and overseas investment filings, and other relevant approvals.
Liandong said the acquisition is not a related-party transaction or a major asset restructuring.
The company said Northstar’s products and engineering team would add storage testing to Liandong’s semiconductor test equipment offerings, complementing its existing products for power devices, mixed-signal chips, and system-on-chip products.
Under the share purchase agreement, the deal uses a locked-box pricing structure based on April 30, 2026.
It also sets aside US$2 million in a jointly managed third-party account for four months to cover potential asset leakage and post-closing claims.
