China’s iFlytek launches Spark X2.5 AI model for coding and agents
China-based AI company iFlytek released Spark X2.5 on September 7, a large language model that it said is designed to improve coding and AI agent capabilities while strengthening general abilities such as mathematics and understanding.
The company also said the model completed full-process training and inference using only domestic computing power.
IFlytek said the mixture-of-experts model has a parameter scale of 293B-A30B and is now available through the iFlytek Open Platform.
The company also open-sourced two smaller on-device models, Spark X2.5-4B and Spark X2.5-1.7B.
The models support context lengths of up to 1 million tokens for local long-document processing, code assistance, and data analysis.
The domestic-hardware claim has broader significance because iFlytek’s recent reasoning model was reportedly trained on Huawei AI chips.
IFlytek was also added to the US Commerce Department’s Entity List in 2019, which subjects it to export controls on certain US items.
