China’s GDS raises $1b to double data center capacity
GDS Holdings, a developer and operator of data centers in China and Southeast Asia, has secured US$1 billion from institutional private-equity investors.
This funding was part of a Series B investment in GDS International, the company’s branch handling operations outside mainland China.
The investment included participation from US firms, such as Coatue Management and The Baupost Group, according to a company announcement made on Tuesday.
The funds are intended to increase data center capacity by up to 1 gigawatt outside China.
