China targets secure core AI tech supply by 2027
China has set a target to secure a reliable supply of key AI technologies and keep its industrial AI among the world’s leading by 2027, according to an action plan released by eight government departments.
The plan, led by agencies such as the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Cyberspace Administration of China, focuses on deeply integrating AI with manufacturing and empowering new industrialization.
Goals include deep application of three to five general-purpose large AI models in manufacturing, developing full-coverage industry-specific models, creating 100 high-quality industrial datasets, and promoting 500 application scenarios by 2027.
China seeks to cultivate two to three globally influential ecosystem-leading companies, a group of specialized small and medium-sized enterprises, and enabling service providers skilled in both AI and industry.
