China opposes US plan to blacklist 200 Chinese chip firms

China has expressed strong opposition to possible increases in United States export controls affecting the country’s chip industry.

This comes as the US is considering adding up to 200 Chinese semiconductor companies to a trade blacklist.

This would impact firms such as Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp. (SMIC) and others involved in semiconductor equipment production.

Chinese commerce ministry spokesperson He Yadong criticized the US measures at a press briefing. He that these restrictions could impact the stability of the global semiconductor industry and US-China cooperation.
