China eases IPO rules for reusable rocket firms

China has eased IPO requirements for companies developing reusable rockets, allowing them to list on Shanghai’s STAR market without meeting standard profitability or revenue thresholds.

Firms must instead reach key technological milestones, including at least one successful orbital launch using reusable rocket technology.

The guidelines also prioritize companies involved in national missions or major state-led space projects.

The move comes as China aims to narrow the gap with US space capabilities, where reusable rocket launches are dominated by SpaceX.

Earlier in December, LandSpace completed an orbital launch with its Zhuque-3 reusable rocket but did not recover the booster.

China is expanding its satellite constellations and views foreign dominance in low-Earth orbit as a security concern.
