The Chinese embassy in Singapore has rejected allegations linking China to an espionage group accused of targeting Singapore’s critical infrastructure.

In a Facebook post on July 19, 2025, the embassy described these claims as “groundless smears and accusations.”

It asserted that China opposes and takes legal action against all forms of cyberattacks.

The post reiterated that China does not support hacking activities.

Last week, a Singaporean minister revealed that the espionage group UNC3886 was targeting high-value infrastructure essential for critical services.

The minister did not provide specific details of the attacks nor directly associate the group with China.

However, cybersecurity firm Mandiant, owned by Google, has previously identified UNC3886 as a “China-nexus espionage group.”

It has been involved in attacks on defense, technology, and telecommunications organizations in the US and Asia.
