China cracks down on AI-driven stock market misinformation
China’s securities regulator plans to intensify efforts to combat misinformation in the stock market, according to state media.
In coordination with police and cyberspace authorities, the crackdown targets the increasing use of AI to spread misleading information, which can manipulate stock prices and mislead investors.
The China Securities Regulatory Commission aims to refute stock market rumors through clarifications and improve investor education, as reported by Securities Times.
The focus is on enhancing investors’ ability to identify false information and limiting the spread of market-related rumors.
These announcements coincided with World Consumer Rights Day on Mar. 15, which promotes consumer protection in China.
