China censors US tariff content on social media

China has started censoring tariff-related content on domestic social media platforms as United States tariffs on several countries, including China, are implemented.

Searches for terms like “tariff” or “104” on Weibo now yield error messages, limiting discussions on the subject.

Posts critical of the US have gained popularity on Chinese social media.

State broadcaster CCTV launched a hashtag that links US trade policies to an egg shortage.

It criticizes US actions while making what it called “urgent” requests for eggs from European countries.
