Chery to mass produce solid-state batteries in 2027

Chery Auto, a key Chinese vehicle exporter, has announced plans to test its all-solid-state batteries in 2026, according to Gao Xinhua, its executive vice president, at a global innovation conference on October 18.

Mass production is aimed for 2027, with the company looking to boost electric vehicle ranges to 1,500 kilometers per charge.

Chery Auto expects its battery energy density to reach 400 watt-hours per kilogram (Wh/kg) by the end of this year.

The target is to achieve 600 Wh/kg by 2025.
