Chennai-based Wheelocity raises US$15 million in Series A2 funding from Lightspeed, Alteria Capital, Anicut Capital, and Wheelocity’s founder, Selvam VMS.

This comes as the startup is launching a platform to deliver fresh produce and groceries to rural India, expanding beyond major cities.

Founded in September 2021, the company is shifting from a B2B model to serving rural areas through both physical stores and digital orders.

Using electric three-wheelers, Wheelocity offers home delivery in villages, starting with 3,500 villages in Tamil Nadu in southern India and 1,000 electric vehicles.

The company aims to reach 20,000 towns and villages in southern India within a year, serving up to 10 million consumers.
