ChatGPT launches year-end review feature
OpenAI has launched “Your Year with ChatGPT,” a new feature offering users a personalized summary of their interactions with the chatbot in 2025.
The rollout is starting in the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, and may not reach all users at once.
It is available in English to Free, Plus, and Pro plan users, but not to those on Business, Enterprise, or Edu plans.
Users with limited activity will only see basic chat statistics.
OpenAI said the rollout may not reach all eligible users immediately.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
Privacy controls remain unclear as ChatGPT wraps up your year
- OpenAI’s year-end recap needs Memory (a setting that lets ChatGPT retain user preferences across conversations) and Reference Chat History (a setting that saves past chats for later reference) turned on 1. What gets included or left out is not clear 1.
- It is unclear if recap chats feed model training (using user data to improve AI systems) or how to delete items 1.
- ChatGPT memory now blends saved memories (facts a user explicitly asks ChatGPT to remember) and chat history (insights automatically inferred from conversations) 1. Many will not know which chats feed the recap or how to opt out.
- Team, Enterprise, and Education accounts are excluded 1. That may tie to compliance (meeting legal and policy requirements) or data governance (rules for handling company data) worries.
Third-party recap tools may serve enterprise left out
- Team, Enterprise, and Education plans are out 1. Vendors could ship self-hosted (run on a company’s own infrastructure) analytics for chats without OpenAI’s privacy limits.
- 2 says memory will expand to Team, Enterprise, and Education soon. Third-party teams have a window before OpenAI ships its recap.
- Software as a Service (SaaS) founders can test demand with ChatGPT usage analytics for firms with data governance needs. Regulated buyers need audit trails (tamper-evident records of who did what and when) for employee AI use.
- Investors can watch OpenAI’s enterprise roadmap for recap features. Slow rollouts open room for early players in enterprise AI analytics.
