Casio launches AI pet robot for emotional support

Casio has opened preorders for its Moflin, a robotic pet intended as a comforting companion rather than a traditional play toy.

Priced at 59,400 yen (about US$398), it has been likened to Sony’s Aibo and other AI companions.

Moflin resembles a hybrid between a hamster and Star Trek’s Tribbles and is designed for holding and cuddling.

According to Casio, it learns to recognize its owner’s voice and touch, simulating a unique bond through distinct sounds and movements.

Moflin also offers a subscription service, Club Moflin, priced at 6,600 yen annually. The service offers discounts on repairs, cleaning, and fur replacements.
