Capital Group buys $49m worth of India’s CarTrade shares

US-based Capital Group, through its affiliate SmallCap World Fund, acquired a 3% stake in CarTrade Tech for 440 crore rupees (US$49 million) via an open market transaction.

CarTrade Tech is a multi-channel auto platform based in Navi Mumbai.

According to BSE bulk deal data, Capital Group bought over 1.4 million shares at an average price of 3,044.58 rupees (US$34.05) each.

Goldman Sachs, through three affiliates, sold 2.3% of CarTrade Tech — totaling about 1.1 million shares — at an average price of 3,044.49 rupees (US $34.2) per share, with the deal valued at 326.2 crore rupees (US$36.6 million).

Shares of CarTrade Tech fell 3.7% to close at 3,054.50 rupees (US$34.27) on the BSE.
