Capgemini to acquire technology service firm Cloud4C

Capgemini has agreed to acquire Cloud4C, a managed services provider specializing in automation for hybrid and sovereign cloud environments.

Cloud4C, founded in 2014 and operating in 29 countries, offers cloud migration, management, and compliance solutions for enterprises.

Capgemini, based in Paris, expects the deal to close in the coming months, pending regulatory approval.

The company said the acquisition will strengthen its position in the cloud managed services sector and expand its offerings for SAP and industry-specific cloud solutions.

Cloud4C’s team of 1,600 focuses on platform-based services, AI operations, and automation for cloud management.

🧠 Food for thought

1️⃣ Capgemini’s acquisition strategy focuses on specialized capabilities rather than scale

Capgemini’s approach to growth through acquisitions demonstrates a clear pattern of targeting niche expertise across different technology domains.

Over the past seven years, the company has systematically acquired specialized firms: LiquidHub for customer engagement (valued at approximately two times its €200 million revenue in 2018), Leidos Cyber for cybersecurity (adding 500 professionals in 2019), and Altran for engineering consulting (€3.6 billion deal creating 250,000+ combined workforce)234.

Each acquisition targets a specific capability gap rather than general market expansion, allowing Capgemini to build comprehensive service offerings through targeted expertise.

The Cloud4C deal continues this pattern by adding hybrid cloud automation and SAP cloud management capabilities, complementing rather than duplicating existing services.

This “capability-first” acquisition strategy allows Capgemini to command premium pricing by offering integrated solutions across multiple specialized domains, rather than competing primarily on scale or cost.

2️⃣ SAP partnerships have become central to Capgemini’s cloud strategy

The Cloud4C acquisition represents Capgemini’s second major SAP-focused deal in recent months, signaling a concentrated bet on SAP’s cloud transformation market.

Cloud4C’s status as a global premium partner for SAP’s RISE program complements Capgemini’s December 2024 acquisition of Syniti, which specialized in SAP data migration and governance1.
