Canva has unveiled new AI features after acquiring Leonardo.ai, a genAI startup, earlier this year.

The new “Dream Lab” tool enhances Canva’s image-generating capabilities.

It uses the Phoenix model from Leonardo.ai to allow users to create images in styles like “3D render” and “Illustration” from text descriptions.

This development aims to improve the production of photographic styles and multi-subject images.

Dream Lab also includes a reference feature for better-controlling image output. This feature is similar to Photoshop’s Reference Image tool.
