Canva unveils AI-native platform, eyes growth in India

Canva unveiled an AI-native version of its platform at Canva Create in Los Angeles, as it shifts from using third-party models to its own AI systems and targets markets such as India for adoption.

The company said India is its fourth-largest market, with more than 1 billion designs created there in the past year.

Canva began rebuilding its platform in 2024 after buying image generation startup Leonardo AI.

Canva is keeping its freemium model but adding a universal credit system for AI features.

The company said it remains prepared for an IPO without giving a timeline.
