Canadian payments firm Nuvei buys Israel’s Payoneer
Nuvei, a Candian payments company, has agreed to acquire Payoneer, an Israeli fintech focused on corss-border payments for businesses, freelancers, and online sellers, in an all-cash deal valued at US$2.75 billion.
The acquisition comes about five years after Payoneer listed in New York and will expand Nuvei’s cross-border payments business.
The offer of US$7.40 per share values Payoneer at about a 21% premium to its Nasdaq closing price on June 12, and roughly 17% below its US$3.3 billion special purpose acquisition company listing valuation in June 2021.
Nuvei was taken private in a US$6.3 billion Advent-led deal.
It said the acquisition would combine Nuvei’s payment-acceptance business with Payoneer’s cross-border payouts, multi-currency accounts, and banking network.
Payoneer said it serves millions of businesses, mainly small and medium-sized businesses in emerging markets, and processed US$22.8 billion in volume in Q1 2026.
Greater China was Payoneer’s largest region by revenue at US$86.6 million.
Nuvei said the combined company would generate about US$3 billion in annual revenue and process more than US$500 billion in annual payment volume for more than 2.4 million customers.
The deal has board approval and is subject to Payoneer shareholder and regulatory approvals, with closing expected in mid-2027.
