Singapore has pledged around US$52 million to develop a large language model (LLM) capable of tackling the complexities of Southeast Asian languages.

However, the project, slated for a launch within two years, faces skepticism due to the presence of more established Western AI models and rapid advancements by tech giants like OpenAI.
