Cambricon raises $562m as China AI chip demand grows
Cambricon Technologies, a Chinese AI chip designer, has raised nearly US$562 million in a private placement to support its AI chip development.
This is the company’s second major fundraising since its public listing.
The new capital comes as Cambricon faces growing demand amid US restrictions on Nvidia’s high-end chips in China.
Cambricon has received significant orders from local tech firms but continues to face production challenges.
The company’s valuation has also increased sharply, with Cambricon previously warning of potential risks tied to its high market value.
