ByteDance is working with ZTE on a second-generation phone featuring its Doubao AI assistant, with a launch targeted for late 2026, according to supply chain sources.

The first version, limited to about 30,000 units, quickly sold out and was described as a market test.

ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, said it does not intend to build its own hardware but will focus on integrating Doubao, which supports cross-app functions like ticket booking, into devices from other manufacturers.
