🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
– ByteDance joined after moves by Xiaomi (consumer electronics) and Xpeng (electric vehicles) 1, while Shenzhen Capital’s new AI fund made its first bet matching a government focus on embodied AI (robots that use AI to perceive then act in the physical world) 1.
– X Square Robot has not shared production volumes or customer contracts, and has not said how widely its robots are used.
– Global humanoid shipments hit 13,318 in 2025 2, so the market remains early even as China put 6.1 billion yuan into humanoid efforts 1.
– Its robots work in hotels and care sites for cleaning or folding clothes 1, though unclear if these are paid deals or pilots.
– AgiBot (a China-based humanoid maker; 5,168 units 2) and Unitree (a Chinese robotics firm; 4,200 units 3) ship in the thousands, lifting demand for tactile sensors, vision systems, plus joint actuators. X Square Robot says Quantum-2 is “fully self-developed” 4.
– Enterprise software vendors can sell robot fleet management 1; tools cover monitoring plus updates sitewide; task orchestration to assign then sequence jobs; and safety compliance for industrial or service use.
– China has over 150 humanoid makers 5 with shipments projected at 2.6 million units by 2035 2, so systems integrators (firms that install hardware plus software on sites) can focus on warehouse or hotel or factory rollouts where robots are piloted 1.
– Chinese humanoids cost $1,380 to $14,000 while Tesla’s projected Optimus is $20,000 to $30,000 5, giving Western component makers room to sell premium subsystems at higher prices.
