ByteDance on Wednesday clarified that recent media reports suggesting a partnership with TSMC for AI chip development were incorrect.

According to a company spokesperson, while ByteDance is exploring chip sector opportunities for cost optimization, these efforts remain in the early stages.

Earlier this year, reports suggested a ByteDance-Broadcom collaboration to develop a high-end AI processor using a 5nm manufacturing process by TSMC. However, the company has previously denied any engagement with Broadcom regarding AI chip development.
