Byju’s founder accused of witness tampering in US court
Byju Raveendran, founder of Indian edtech firm Byju’s, is accused of trying to sway Nebraska businessman William R. Hailer’s decision to testify in federal court.
It was revealed that Raveendran offered Hailer $500,000 and a Dubai plane ticket shortly before Hailer’s testimony on Byju’s trusteeship.
Court evidence included a US$10,700 plane ticket, with Hailer revealing these offers in front of US Bankruptcy Judge John T. Dorsey.
The judge indicated that the testimony might require federal prosecutors to consider an investigation.
