BYD’s UK sales jump 880% in September
BYD saw its UK sales rise by 880% in September year-on-year, with 11,271 cars sold, making the UK its largest market outside China.
The majority of these sales came from the plug-in hybrid version of the BYD Seal U SUV.
BYD, a Chinese EV manufacturer, held a 3.6% share of the UK car market in September.
The UK market remains open to Chinese EVs, unlike the US and EU, which have imposed tariffs on imports.
Industry data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders showed UK EV sales hit a record high in September, with nearly 73,000 battery EVs sold, and plug-in hybrid sales rising even faster.
Chinese models, including the BYD Seal U and Jaecoo 7, entered the UK’s top 10 best-selling cars last month.
