BYD-backed robot maker PaXini eyes HK IPO

Robotics firm PaXini Tech is considering an initial public offering in Hong Kong, according to people familiar with the matter.

The China-based company could submit a listing application in the coming months.

The company is working with banks on the potential offering, the people said.

PaXini is backed by BYD and JD.com. In March, PaXini reportedly raised more than 1 billion yuan (US$148 million) in a series B funding round that valued the company at more than 10 billion yuan (US$1.48 billion).

PaXini describes itself as a haptic technology and humanoid robotics company.

Its products include tactile sensors, dexterous robotic hands, and a humanoid robot.

A listing would add to a broader push by Chinese AI hardware and robotics companies seeking public market debuts in Hong Kong and mainland China.
