BYD, Xiaomi shares surge on strong June deliveries

Hong Kong-listed shares of Chinese electric vehicle makers rallied in July 2 following positive June delivery data.

Market leader BYD saw its stock jump about 9% and Xiaomi up about 5%.

Xiaomi said June was its third straight month with more than 30,000 deliveries. Citi said Xiaomi’s first-half shipments topped 180,000 vehicles, or about 33% of its 2026 target of 550,000 vehicles.

BYD said it sold 403,472 vehicles in June, up 5.46% from 382,585 a year earlier. Deutsche Bank said BYD’s second-quarter sales rose 58% from the previous quarter to 1.1 million vehicles and forecast net profit of 10 billion yuan (US$1.47 billion) for the quarter.

Xiaomi’s disclosed Beijing factory plans point to 300,000 units of annual capacity across two phases, with phase two expected to begin mass production shortly.
