BYD has filed four models under a new sub-brand called Linghui with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

The filings cover the Linghui e5, e7, e9, and M9, which include both sedans and MPVs in plug-in hybrid and pure electric versions.

Market observers speculate that the Linghui brand may be aimed at the ride-hailing sector and used to separate fleet sales from BYD’s consumer vehicles.

Most of the new models appear to be rebadged versions of BYD’s existing vehicles.
