BYD contractor denies labor abuse claims at Brazil factory
Jinjiang Group, a contractor for Chinese EV manufacturer BYD, has denied allegations of poor labor conditions at a factory construction site in Brazil.
Brazilian authorities reported finding 163 Chinese workers in “slavery-like” conditions at the facility.
In response, Jinjiang said that the claims are inconsistent with the facts. The company emphasized that labeling workers as “enslaved” disrespects their dignity and human rights.
Jinjiang also confirmed that it is working on a joint letter to formally address the allegations.
