Cryptocurrency exchange Bybit has disclosed that users from mainland China can still access its platform using VPNs, but trading in the Chinese yuan remains prohibited.

Bybit, established in 2018, had previously said Chinese users could trade abroad due to demand and manageable risks.

CEO Ben Zhou said this move avoids measures that might lead to capital outflows, addressing Chinese government concerns.

In June, Bybit started accepting registrations using mainland Chinese identification like national IDs and passports.

Bybit is part of several exchanges founded by Chinese teams that have moved operations overseas after China’s crypto regulations.
