Broadcom said at VMware Explore in Singapore on September 1 that it is adding AI data foundations to VMware Tanzu Platform and launching TrueSource, a portfolio of commercially supported, verifiably built open source software for enterprises.

The Tanzu update adds hardened agent sandboxes, tools to prepare structured and unstructured enterprise data, a curated marketplace for vetted AI models, tools, and data products, and governance features to monitor, log, and rate-limit agent actions.

Broadcom said those capabilities will be generally available in Tanzu Platform in fall 2026.

The move follows Broadcom’s US$61 billion agreement to acquire VMware.

Tanzu is an application platform to build, run, and manage modern applications on Kubernetes, and the new AI features align with VMware’s earlier private AI work with Nvidia.

TrueSource combines Spring Enterprise, TrueSource Trusted Artifacts, and TrueSource Data Services.

The portfolio includes Bitnami Secure Images, human-verified patches for more than 5,000 Java libraries, and Supply-chain Levels for Software Artifacts (SLSA) Build Level 3 builds for Java, Python, and Node.js. That requires hardened, isolated build environments and tamper-resistant provenance.
