Brazilian fintech firm PicPay said to target up to $500m US IPO

PicPay, a Brazilian fintech offering digital wallets, cards, loans, and investment services, is seeking to raise up to US$500 million through a US IPO, according to sources.

The company is working with Citigroup, Royal Bank of Canada, and Bank of America on the listing and aims to go public as early as this year, though timing may change depending on regulatory developments.

Owned by the Batista family’s J&F Participacoes, PicPay reported 208.4 million reais (US$38 million) in profit and 4.5 billion reais (US$814.8 million) in revenue for the first half of 2025.

The company previously filed for a US IPO in 2021 targeting an US$8 billion valuation but later withdrew.

Discussions on the IPO are ongoing, and terms could still change.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

PicPay profit jump comes with thin credit risk detail

  • Profit rose 237% year over year to 208.4 million reais in the first half of 2025. The Bloomberg piece plus the company statement omitted loan book size, non-performing loan (NPL) ratios, and cost of risk.
  • Pix, Brazil’s central bank real-time transfer network, anchors PicPay’s digital wallet business 1. The materials did not share active user counts, transaction volumes, or take rates (the percentage of transaction value PicPay keeps as revenue). That limits investor view of per-customer or per-transaction profitability ahead of a possible US IPO near $500 million.
  • Latin America had only five listings in 2024 that raised $28 million, down from $16.26 billion in 2021 2.

Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance vendors can prepare for a Latin America IPO wave

  • PicPay joins delivery app Rappi, a Colombia-based on-demand platform, in weighing 2025 US IPOs 2. Brazil’s local IPO market has been quiet since Nubank, a Brazil-based digital bank, raised $2.6 billion in its New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) debut in 2021 2.
  • B2B software and consulting vendors that handle Sarbanes-Oxley work can pitch early. Many cover eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) filings. Others handle Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis, and Retrieval (EDGAR) submissions or run investor relations platforms. Argentina started a privatization drive and posted its first domestic IPO in six years 2. More high-growth companies will need US reporting infrastructure across Brazil, Mexico, Argentina.
