Bluesky plans blue check system with trusted verifiers

Bluesky is reportedly developing a blue checkmark verification system, according to updates found on its public GitHub repository on April 18, 2025.

The system will delegate verification authority to “trusted verifiers,” allowing multiple organizations to issue blue checks directly.

Bluesky may also verify notable accounts under this model.

Verified users will display a blue circle with a white checkmark. Trusted verifiers will have a scalloped blue circle with a white checkmark.

A blog post link suggests the announcement could come as early as April 21, 2025.

Users will be able to tap on blue checks to see which organization granted verification. Bluesky currently verifies accounts by linking them to official websites.
