Bluehill leads $1.1m seed round in Indian semiconductor startup
Bluehill.VC, a Chennai-based frontier-tech venture capital firm, said on September 3 it led a 102 million rupees (US$1.07 million) seed round in Makr Microsystems, a semiconductor metrology startup, with Artha Venture Fund also participating.
Makr said it will use the funding for technology development, customer validation, and preparation for commercial deployment.
The startup is developing nanoscale 3D subsurface metrology products for chipmakers.
Its tools use acoustic atomic force microscopy, optical tomography, and 3D data analytics software to help chipmakers measure hidden structures and defects beneath semiconductor surfaces.
The deal comes after Bluehill.VC reached the final close of its first frontier-tech fund at 4 billion rupees (US$42.1 million).
