Blue Owl-backed Stack eyes $5.9b data center loan

Stack Infrastructure, a data center operator owned by Blue Owl Capital, is seeking an A$8.5 billion (US$5.91 billion) syndicated loan to help fund its third Melbourne data center, according to people familiar with the matter.

The financing could be among Australia’s biggest data center deals.

Talks with banks are still at an early stage, and details may change, the people said.

The fundraising comes as Australia draws heavy investment in data centers.

Westpac Banking Corp. said the sector’s investment pipeline could exceed A$155 billion (US$108 billion).

Separately, AirTrunk said its Sydney and Melbourne campuses offer 755+MW of capacity.

Policy settings could also affect new projects. The Australian government has said it expects new data centers to bring in enough new renewable power to offset their electricity demand.
