US blockchain firm Spacecoin sends satellite data to rival Starlink
US startup Spacecoin claims an industry first by sending secured data via satellite.
Spacecoin targets regions with unreliable, censored, or expensive internet and plans a decentralized network for payments and data storage.
The startup transmitted blockchain data over 7,000 km from Chile to the Azores using a satellite built with EnduroSat.
Spacecoin currently operates one nanosatellite, launched in December 2024, and plans three more by the end of 2025.
Unlike Starlink, which has 8,000 satellites, Spacecoin remains a small player in Low Earth Orbit.
