Blibli reportedly lays off around 400 employees across divisions
Blibli, an Indonesia-based ecommerce firm, is reportedly carrying out another round of layoffs affecting several employees.
Social media posts on October 24 indicated the company held a townhall to announce job cuts, with staff from various divisions, including technical, commercial, and ad roles, said to be impacted.
Sources cited in the reports estimate about 400 employees are affected, including some at the VP level.
Blibli has not issued an official statement regarding these layoffs.
Earlier in March 2025, the company was also reported to have laid off around 300 employees across four branch offices, mainly impacting operational and seller management teams.
No confirmation has been provided by Blibli on either round of layoffs.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
Blibli’s second 2025 layoff hits about 400 roles
- Media reports say an October layoff at Blibli hit roughly 400 employees, about 33% above the roughly 300 cut in March. Cuts hit technical, commercial, and marketing teams. Some vice president (VP) positions were also affected. This marks restructuring inside core units rather than support roles. The company had no comment on the October reports at publication.
- Blibli’s FY24 report logged a 34% year-over-year drop in operating losses, with operating expenses at 7.4% of Total Payment Value (TPV) 1. The firm raised Rp2.25 trillion via a capital increase in October 2024 1. Fresh cuts add pressure to prove a path to profit despite new funds.
- Blibli is investing in AI and machine learning to improve product and operations 1. The company has not tied these projects to layoffs. March cuts reportedly reached seller management teams. October reports say impacts hit technical, commercial, and marketing roles.
Ecommerce talent in play as rivals expand
- Companies expanding in Indonesia can target experienced e-commerce professionals from the October Blibli layoff, roughly 400 people. Skills include seller management, commercial operations, or marketing, based on the two 2025 rounds.
- Given Blibli’s AI and machine learning focus 1, displaced engineers may bring experience with product discovery algorithms or operational automation that fits other Southeast Asia platforms.
- For investors, the cuts underline margin pressure on Indonesian e-commerce players. Opportunities may favor platforms with stronger unit economics (the profit or loss per transaction or customer) or a differentiated pitch beyond speed or inventory breadth.
