Bitget plans to buy Thai crypto exchange GMO-Z.com

Seychelles-based crypto exchange Bitget said on October 20 it planned to acquire Bangkok-based GMO-Z.com Cryptonomics (Thailand) Co Ltd through its interest in BTGT Management (Thailand) Ltd as it expands in Thailand.

GMO-Z.com Cryptonomics operates a licensed digital asset exchange and brokerage in Thailand, according to Bitget.

Under the proposed deal, Japan’s GMO Internet Inc, its consolidated subsidiary GMO-Z.com Holdings (Thailand) Co Ltd, and other shareholders would transfer their entire stakes in GMO-Z.com Cryptonomics to BTGT Management (Thailand) Ltd and/or its designated entity.

Completion is subject to regulatory approval and other conditions.

Bitget said it planned to offer its trading platform to Thai users after the deal closed and it received the necessary change-of-control approval.

In Thailand, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regulates digital asset businesses under Thai law.
