JAN3, developer of the Aqua Bitcoin wallet, raised US$5 million in seed funding led by Fulgur Ventures, with support from Tether, Grupo Salinas, Lightning Ventures, and East Ventures.

This funding follows a US$620,000 pre-seed round in early 2023, with US$1 million allocated to establish a Bitcoin treasury, planning to acquire 12 BTC at an average price of US$83,333.33 each.

The company intends to use the funds to expand integrations within the AQUA platform, including features like credit card support, loans, and local on/off ramps, alongside existing support for the Bitcoin sidechain Liquid Network and Tether stablecoin.
