Bitcoin steady as oil spike clouds Fed rate-cut bets
Bitcoin traded near US$64,200 on July 20. Ether rose to US$1,860, XRP held at US$1.09, and Solana traded at US$76 as most crypto tokens showed little movement.
Brent crude rose as much as 4% to US$91.42 a barrel as conflict in the Middle East intensified, adding to concerns over supply disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz and stoking inflation worries.
Higher energy prices have also prompted some analysts to warn that Federal Reserve rate-cut expectations are shrinking fast.
That macro risk can pressure both crypto and equities. South Korea’s Kospi also fell 3.5% in a broader technology selloff.
With no US economic data due this week, investors are watching earnings from Alphabet on July 21, Tesla on July 22, and Intel on July 23.
Markets expect guidance on AI infrastructure spending and chip demand to sway sentiment.
