Bitcoin slips to $114,467 as traders react to US rate cut

Bitcoin, Ethereum, and most major cryptocurrencies fell on September 21 as traders reacted to ongoing macroeconomic uncertainty and a recent US interest rate cut.

Bitcoin dropped 1% over the past 24 hours to US$114,467 as of 10:20 p.m. ET, while Ethereum fell 3.3% to US$4,307, according to The Block.

Other tokens also declined, with XRP down 2.5% to US$2.91, and Solana falling 3.24% to US$232.5.

Bitcoin had climbed to around US$118,000 earlier in the week after the Federal Open Market Committee cut rates by 25 basis points, but the rally faded as the Federal Reserve signaled a cautious, gradual approach to future cuts.

Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell described the move as “risk management” and said there was no need to rush further reductions.

Analysts said the bull cycle has slowed, with long-term holders remaining steady and short-term traders awaiting a clear breakout above US$124,000.
