Bitcoin rises above $66k ahead of Trump’s Congress speech
Bitcoin rose above US$66,000 on February 25, 2026, amid market activity ahead of US President Donald Trump’s address to Congress.
The cryptocurrency increased by over 3%, reaching a high of US$66,300, its largest intraday gain since February 13.
Ether also climbed nearly 5%, hitting US$1,994. Smaller tokens like Solana and XRP gained around 4% and 2%, respectively.
The rally coincided with a rise in equities and followed a week of declines triggered by a Supreme Court decision invalidating Trump’s emergency powers to impose tariffs.
Pratik Kala, head of research at Apollo Crypto, said the price increase was driven by short covering and speculative long positions ahead of the speech.
The speech was expected to focus on economic policies.
