Bitcoin jumps to $91k as crypto market recovers
Bitcoin rose 4.5% in the past 24 hours to US$91,755, recovering from last week’s drop to about US$81,000.
Analysts said the rebound followed an oversold period and renewed buying interest, with traders watching the odds of a US Federal Reserve rate cut in December.
CME Group data showed an 84.7% chance of a December rate cut, though Fed Chair Jerome Powell has said the decision remains uncertain.
Other major cryptocurrencies also saw gains: ether climbed 2.8% to US$3,038, XRP was up 1.6% to US$2.22, BNB increased 3.9% to US$897.9, and Solana rose 2.9% to US$143.26.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
ETF flows will determine if this is a dead cat bounce or sustained recovery
- Bitcoin rose 4.5% after a drop to $81,000. The rebound sticks only if US spot Bitcoin Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) post net inflows (more money in than out), which tells us if institutions are back or if overleveraged shorts are covering (short sellers buying back).
- Since 2012, Bitcoin between Thanksgiving and Christmas went up 6 times and down 6 times, with an average return near 6% 1.
- Markets may watch the wrong driver. The December Fed rate cut matters less than the tone of the announcement (the guidance and language), and past US Treasury liquidity boosts (cash management shifts that add liquidity) first pushed Bitcoin lower before later rallies 2.
- Without clear catalysts, unlike drivers seen in 2022 and 2023, seasonal optimism alone will not keep prices elevated into 2025 2.
Crypto infrastructure providers can exploit intraday seasonality patterns
- Exchanges, brokers, and cloud providers can use Bitcoin intraday seasonality (recurring time-of-day return patterns). Returns cluster at 22:00-23:00 Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) when most markets are closed, with outperformance on Fridays during high volatility 3.
- A strategy that trades only these hours delivered 40.64% annualized returns with better risk-adjusted results than holding Bitcoin, especially on uptrend days with price above moving averages (a common technical trend measure) 3.
- Fintech platforms and ad networks should time campaigns plus capacity planning to these patterns. About 1 in 7 Americans own Bitcoin, so Thanksgiving becomes a natural conversation catalyst 1.
