Bitcoin falls to $115k as hopes for Fed rate cuts fade
Bitcoin declined on July 25, 2025, reaching US$115,122, its lowest level since July 11.
This drop coincided with a shift in investor sentiment due to lowered expectations for US interest rate cuts.
The broader cryptocurrency market also experienced losses, with Ether falling 3% and XRP declining by 5.3%.
Bitcoin had reached a record high of US$123,205 last week, driven by optimism around US regulatory developments and increased investment.
However, momentum has slowed, and traders are now more cautious, according to Rachael Lucas, a crypto analyst at BTC Markets.
Stronger-than-expected US jobs data released on July 24, 2025, further diminished hopes for Federal Reserve rate cuts. This news ended a seven-day rally in Asian stocks and negatively impacted the crypto market.
In the derivatives market, a speculator reportedly purchased US$5 million in Bitcoin put options with a strike price of US$110,000, set to expire on August 8, according to FalconX.
Analyst Tony Sycamore from IG Australia indicated that Bitcoin is likely to undergo further consolidation as it remains below the monthly trendline resistance, which is currently around US$125,000.
