Bitcoin traded near US$90,000 for the first time on Monday night in the United States after exceeding US$80,000 the previous day.

The cryptocurrency saw a 12% increase, peaking at US$89,623, according to Coin Metrics.

Increased optimism among investors is noted, with some expectations of bitcoin potentially reaching US$100,000 within the year.

Other cryptocurrencies also experienced gains. Ether rose 5.8%, while XRP and Polygon increased by nearly 4%. Dogecoin had a notable rise of 38%.
