Changpeng Zhao, founder and former CEO of crypto platform Binance, may face up to 18 months in prison after pleading guilty to violating anti-money laundering laws in the US.

While his sentencing will happen months from now, Zhao’s bail was set at US$175 million. He was also allowed to return to the United Arab Emirates, where he has been living this year.
